“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” This quote by George Santayana is the epigraph of Ece Temelkuran’s latest novel The Time of Mute Swans (2017). In this book she paints an in-depth picture of the Turkish Civil War of 1980 from the perspectives of a politically committed family.
The internationally acknowledged journalist and author of the novel Women Who Blow on Knots (2017) which has been translated into more than 20 languages was fired from her position at the newspaper Habertürk due to her critical attitude towards the government.
At the event she will converse with journalist Günter Keil (Munich) in English, and both of them will read from her novel in Turkish as well as from the German and English translation.
